Does one lamp do all four effects?

No. Each option is a separate version of the lamp, so pick water ripple, star light, northern lights or crystal light when you order. If you love more than one look, they make a nice set.

How do I set it up?

Place it on a flat table or nightstand, plug the USB cord into a charger and turn it on with the remote. The effect shows up best in a dark room with a plain ceiling or wall.

Is it good for a child's room?

It makes a soft, colorful night light for kids. Keep the cord tidy and out of reach of little ones, and keep the remote somewhere toddlers can't get at its battery.
