How do I switch between night light and projector?

Keep the lampshade on and it glows softly like a regular night light. Take it off and the moon and stars spread across the ceiling and walls.

How do I make it rotate?

Use the rotary switch on the lamp. It turns a full 360 degrees, so the sky keeps moving around the room.

Is it OK for a baby's or toddler's room?

It can be, with good placement. Set it on a dresser or shelf out of reach, keep the cord tidy, and save the strobe effect for daytime parties, since steady or gently moving light is more restful at bedtime.
